OBJECTIVE
G.I. & E. S.p.A. has the necessity to transport skid from the Porto Recanati office to the Ancona harbour.
ANALYSIS The analysis of the transport starts from the construction phase of the skid since the Client is conscious of the complexity of the job and the relative critical variables.
With the structure of the skid at hand we were able to reconstruct the dimensions of the material that should have been transported and we established with which vehicles we could have carried out the transport. A special loader would have been necessary that, as well as supporting the load, had a very low flat bed.
The evident critical aspects were therefore represented by the following:
- the height from the ground of the convoy;
- the maximum width of the convoy at a height of only 45cm from the ground. The transit of the convoy in old city centres and a vast part on the seafront during the summer period present themselves as high sensitive factors.
Some inconvenience on the roads have been inevitable but the priorities were reaching the final destination in maximum security.

STRATEGY Due to the dimensions of the convoy the route was monitored and then determined.
During the inspection phase, that included the evaluation and the feasibility analysis of the transport, the measurement of every single interchange, bridge, rail crossing and cable was done.
As well as the usual obstacles, in this case, we found ourselves looking for a way to not make the transported box collide with the tram cables in the centre of Ancona. if this would have happened it would have been a complete disaster. The skid would have been seriously damaged with the consequent stop of all the tram lines in the city with enormous discomforts in public and private roads of the old town.
Thanks to the technology of our vehicles we were able to transit under the tram cables, at a height of 5m, being able to lower the convoy at a height of 4.94m, making the flat bed touch the ground.
Some narrow roads have forced the convoy to travel for a few kilometres on the way of the road.
The route, that usually is 25km, ended up being 52km.
It took 7 hours to complete the route with the client being fully satisfied.

INSTRUMENTS The dimensions and the weight of the transport have determined the execution of the job through a special loader of 2 + 2 axles with a low floor.
